This was one of John Williams' earliest film scores, and most of the music is full-on thematic beauty and country fun. But this one scene stands out because of the wonderful combination of narration, sound-effects, striking images and subtle score. Sadly, it was not made available on the soundtrack album, or as isolated music anywhere since.
Starring Steve McQueen, Rupert Crosse (in a landmark Oscar-nominated role), Sharon Farrell, Mitch Vogel and Will Geer. Based on the novel by William Faulkner, and directed by Mark Rydell. Music by John Williams, in the earlier days of his illustrious Hollywood career.
