Wife of Nigeria’s President, Aisha Buhari, has expressed support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Buhari-led administration come 2019, just as she endeared fellow women to support course.
Mrs Buhari made the appeal during the National Women Leadership Summit organized by a political group, Project 4+4 for Buhari & Osinbajo 2019 held in Abuja on Tuesday, 4th December, 2018.
She encouraged women to “spread the good news of the accomplishments of this administration”, noting that President Buhari came up with social investment programmes targeted at them and their children.
The first lady sympathized with women saying they are at the receiving end of “struggles of men.”
She also encouraged the wives of slain soldiers by Boko Haram insurgents and admonished the government to pay entitlements to deserving families.
Meanwhile, wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, who was present at the event also commended women for their support for the party, encouraging them to continue to have confidence in the APC, which will better their lives and that of their families.
The National Coordinator of Project 4+4, Comrade Garba Musa Bello, in his address noted that the aimed of the programme is “bringing together women from 774 local government areas and chart for them a strategy for the campaign period”, adding that women are the bedrock of any election and a force to be reckoned with.
He also enumerated successes of the government, stating that, “women are witnesses and beneficiaries to those achievements and that they must pronounce them to the world.”
Also speaking, the National Woman Leader of the APC, Salamatu Baiwa, disclosed that, “APC women have secured the concurrence of the party on the issue of a more gender-balanced administration come 2019.”
She encouraged party loyalists to engage in campaign of issues and not that of insults, just as she encouraged APC to set an example for other parties to emulate.
